ASTM International, the International Code Council, and the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration are partnering with the Standardization Organization for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GSO) to host a two-day conference that supports the use of globally accepted codes and standards in the region.
Presenters will discuss regulations, testing, laboratories, sustainability, inspections, enforcement, and more. Some presenters will specifically focus on areas such as facades, cool roofs, and thermal insulation.
The Dubai event comes after the International Code Council (ICC) signed a historic agreement in December 2016 supporting The Standardization Organization for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GSO) efforts to develop a unified Gulf Building Code (GBC) for the region. This new Gulf Building Code will support the harmonization of building practices, enhance safety and facilitate commerce in the region. Once implemented, the Gulf Code will reflect the latest advances in building safety, affordability and sustainability and be a driving force for innovation and safety advances in building design and construction. The code will help harmonize building practices, enhance safety, promote sustainability, drive innovation, and support commerce in the region.
